Call For Papers

The Profitable Blueprint for Zero

PHIUS is delighted to open the call for presentations and papers for the 14th Annual North American Passive House Conference and the printed Conference Proceedings.

PHIUS+ is the largest Passive Building Certification in North America. It is a proven design and construction standard that provides a practical design baseline for zero energy/zero carbon construction. PHIUS+ includes a critical risk management component through third-party quality assurance. And PHIUS professionals are leading exponential growth in passive building.

Each year, the PHIUS conference brings together this community of architects, engineers, high-performance component manufacturers, and policy makers. And this year, because we’ll be in Washington, D.C., we expect the policymaker contingent to be bigger than ever. As always, the Conference provides a forum to share the best of passive building through case studies, best practices, lessons learned, and product knowledge. Broadly, we’re looking for:

  • Passive building best practices, standards, design tools, science
  • Proven technology, materials, systems
  • Successfully completed case studies in all climates with all construction types: Single, Multifamily (lo, mid, hi), commercial, retrofits
  • Lessons learned from professionals in the field/practice

We want proposals that tackle existing and the next-frontier challenges on the path to zero:

  • Cities’ climate action and zero energy code progress
  • Innovation in finance and technology
  • Cost optimization for design, construction and manufacturing to bring costs down
  • Passive + zero carbon + renewable grid solutions
  • Successful passive retrofit solutions including manufactured component approaches
  • International climate-specific passive projects
